چکیده
Recent research has shown that distinct physical regions in 3 the Venusian induced magnetosphere are recognizable from the variations 4 of strength of the magnetic field and its wave/fluctuation activity. In this pa-5 per the statistical properties of magnetic fluctuations are investigated in the 6 Venusian magnetosheath and wake regions. The main goal is to identify the 7 characteristic scaling features of fluctuations along Venus Express (VEX) tra-8 jectory and to understand the specific circumstances of the occurrence of dif-9 ferent types of scalings. For the latter task we also use the results of mea-10 surements from the previous missions to Venus. Our main result is that the 11 changing character of physical interactions between the solar wind and the 12 planetary obstacle is leading to different types of spectral scaling in the near-13 Venusian space. Noisy fluctuations are observed in the magnetosheath, wavy 14 structures near the terminator and in the nightside near-planet wake. Multi

Magnetic Fluctuations and Turbulence in the Venus 1 Magnetosheath and Wake
3 induced magnetosphere are recognizable from the variations of strength and 4 of wave/fluctuation activity of the magnetic field. In this paper the statis-5 tical properties of magnetic fluctuations are investigated in the Venusian mag-6 netosheath, terminator, and wake regions. The latter two regions were not 7 visited by previous missions. We found 1/f fluctuations in the magnetosheath, 8 la...
متن کاملMulti-point observations of intermittency in the cusp regions
In this paper we investigate the statistical properties of magnetic field fluctuations measured by the four Cluster spacecraft in the cusp and close to the interface with the magnetospheric lobes, magnetopause and magnetosheath. At lower altitudes along the outbound orbit of 26 February 2001, the magnetic field fluctuations recorded by all four spacecraft are random and their Probability Distri...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Characteristics, Physical Concepts and Entropy Generation in a Turbulent Channel Flow Using Vortex Blob Method
In this paper, using vortex blob method (VBM), turbulent flow in a channel is studied and physical concepts of turbulence are obtained and discussed. At first, time-averaged velocities, and , and then their fluctuations are calculated. To clarify turbulence structures, velocity fluctuations and are plotted. It is observed that turbulence structures occupy different positions and move with con...

The probability density function of single-point velocity fluctuations in turbulence is studied systematically using Fourier coefficients in the energy-containing range. In ideal turbulence where energy-containing motions are random and independent, the Fourier coefficients tend to Gaussian and independent of each other. Velocity fluctuations accordingly tend to Gaussian. However, if energy-con...
متن کاملUniversal properties of mirror mode turbulence in the Earth’s magnetosheath
We use more than 7 years of Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms observations to quantify the non-Gaussian properties associated with mirror mode turbulence in the Earth’s magnetosheath. We find that non-Gaussian statistics of mirror modes lead to the parabolic collapse of kurtosis as the square of the skewness (K = aS2 + B with a ∼ 1.3 and b ∼ −1). The parabolic ...
